Fiat scudo diesel engine1/15/2024 Don't see too many about anymore though, but I'd buy one again if I found a good one with low mileage, since this one went on to over 100,000 miles without serious issues. But overall when I had the van it proved to be a good reliable van the few years or so as a works van, and did not breakdown and got the job done. The van was sold on back in 2007 at 5 years old who knows if it's still going. I liked driving the Scudo for the most part, and was really at its best on long motorway drives as I mentioned acceleration was not its strong point, however it cruised along just fine when up to speed, and was very economical. Reliability was good however and did not cause any breakdowns, contrary to most other reviews about this van.Ĭompared to my previous vans (Ford Transit, Vauxhall Astra-max, etc) the interior quality does not hold up as well, and feels pretty cheap, but I don't think Fiat put too much effort into this vehicle when designing the interior. I found it to be a generally comfortable van to travel in and to drive it was OK, however it was very slow especially when loaded, which is my only complaint. General Comments:Ī van that was used more or less from new as a works van and lead a hard life carrying heavy loads. If I'm being really picky the interior trim didn't hold up too well, but nothing broke off as far as I remember. Nothing other than general wear and tear such as new brakes, the odd suspension part, and oil changes. Not many of this generation around anymore, but if you find a well looked after one and need a reliable van to get about in for a good price, go for it. There are others (Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert I believe), but the Scudo from Fiat is the best van in my opinion. Rear space is as good as it gets for a van in this class. I like the dash layout and storage areas. Interior is comfortable enough but it gets noisy on motorways. The van will however see 45 mpg + even when heavy loaded, and the engine (as long as you change the oil) will never complain. Shocking by today's standards, and was only just about acceptable back in the late 1990's and early 2000's. It takes the 1.9 diesel engine 20 seconds to get to 60 mph. The new Fiat Professional Scudo van comes in two versions: one with a diesel engine and one with a completely new all-electric powertrain. I have had mine 10 years and it has been economical and great to own. Last of the first generation on an 04 reg, the Scudo from this time was very reliable and a popular works van. ![]() but if you want a solid reliable old van, it is hard to pass up on the Scudo. A new smoother, more responsive driving experience allows you to move with ease, even in areas close to traffic and city centres. Inside and outside the van looks as rough as you would expect at nearly 200K and 18 years old. The new E-Scudo electric van offers a broad range of engines: up to 205 miles maximum range, a maximum speed of 80 mph, reduced charging times, and zero CO2 emissions whilst driving. Far too much to list, but most was just maintenance, the van never gave any major serious or expensive problems.
